Aug 3 - Psalm 79:1

O God, pagan nations

have conquered your land

Psalm 79:1

Indeed.

Enough said.

In Christ's Love,

a guy who is more than

a conquerer through

the one who loves us

(see Romans 8:37)

Wait ... read that signature again.

1. We can lament that we live in an increasingly pagan land. (This will cause us to stand -- or fall -- in powerless weakness.)

2. We can -- and should realize -- that we are not the first generation of God's people to have faced adversity. In fact, ours is minor compared to what others have faced in ages past ... and still face, even violently, today. (Proper perspective in changing times encourages us when we feel discouraged.)

3. The ultimate encouragement, though, is a Romans 8 confidence -- "in all ... things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Christ is risen. Christians -- not
evil -- will triumph. We are not defeated ... and should not react dispiritedly. God is the victor.
