Jan 2 - Genesis 1:1-5

Merry Christmas - day 12

In the beginning when
God created the heavens and the earth,
the earth was a formless void
and darkness covered the face of the deep,
while a wind from God
swept over the face of the waters.
Then God said, "Let there be light";
and there was light.
And God saw that the light was good;
and God separated the light from the darkness.
God called the light Day,
and the darkness he called Night.
And there was evening
and there was morning, the first day.
Genesis 1:1-5

Today is the first day of the New Year.

Wait ...

Well, technically it's not. But actually yes, it is.

Yesterday we were all a little too sleepy from a late night and too hungover from twenty pounds of fruitcake and cookies and other junk we ate over the holidays. (I'll choose to believe that's what you were hungover from!!!)

But today is Monday. It the first day of work in the New Year. And do you remember what God's first day of work brought? Light!

Here's my prayer for you this year: May you (and I) make it our job to bring light to this darkened world.

In Christ's Love,
a sixty-watt guy
(aiming for one hundred)
