Aug 10 - FAIRNESS - Numbers 27: 1-11

Then the daughters of Zelophehad came forward. ... They stood before Moses ... and all the congregation ... and they said, “Our father died in the wilderness ... and he had no sons. Why should the name of our father be taken away ... because he had no son? Give to us a possession among our father’s brothers.”

Moses brought their case before the LordAnd the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 7 "The daughters of Zelophehad are right in what they are saying; you shall indeed let them possess an inheritance among their father’s brothers and pass the inheritance of their father on to them. You shall also say to the Israelites, If a man dies, and has no son, then you shall pass his inheritance on to his daughter. If he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers. 10 If he has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers. 11 And if his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to the nearest kinsman of his clan, and he shall possess it. It shall be for the Israelites a statute and ordinance, as the Lord commanded Moses.

          Numbers 27

Long story ... short commentary. Here it is ...

God is fair!

Now, we may not always understand God's ways, but this story should remind us that God is fair -- "Of course the daughters should share."

If and when you read a story that doesn't fit with our modern, cultural understanding of correct or politically correct, fair or unfair, just or oppressive, remember this story. Keep reminding yourself of the truth that God is fair ... God is loving ... God will bless those who truly trust in him

In Christ's Love,

a guy who's name

is not Zelophehad

(God gave me sons,

not daughters)
